Interaction between Alcohol and Renidex

Renidex contains chloramphenicol which is a broad-spectrum antibiotic that is active against both Gram-positive and Gram-negative bacteria. It works by inhibiting the protein synthesis in bacteria which needs to survive. In the absence of protein, the bacterial growth is stunned and slowed. It can also kill the bacteria in higher doses. Renidex is effective against a wide range of both gram negative and gram positive bacteria such as Salmonella species, Rickettsia species, Neisseria meningitidis, Escherichia coli, Haemophilus influenzae, and Staphylococcus pneumoniae.
Yes, Renidex has been reported to cause diarrhoea and it is the most common side effect of this medicine. Drink plenty of fluids while you are taking this medicine. If you are experiencing severe diarrhoea after taking this drug, consult your doctor immediately without any further delay.
