No, Staphydex does not treat scabies which is a contagious skin infestation caused by the mite (Sarcoptes scabiei). It is not recommended for the treatment of scabies because Staphydex is not a scabicidal agent.
Staphydex contains cefalexin which is a broad-spectrum antibiotic. It works by preventing the cell wall synthesis in bacteria by binding to specific proteins (penicillin-binding proteins).
