Zyclin, a prescription drug, is manufactured in various forms such as Gel. It is primarily used for the treatment of Bacterial Infections, Skin Infections. Secondary and off-label uses of Zyclin have also been mentioned below.

    Zyclin is a brand name of clindamycin and it comes in form of the capsule, injection, and topical gel. It is a prescription drug that belongs to the class of drug known as lincosamides. It is a broad spectrum antibiotic which is used in the prevention and treatment of bacterial infections such as pneumonia, strep throat, and pelvic inflammatory disease. The topical gel of Zyclin is used in the treatment of acne vulgaris (pimples).

    How does Zyclin work?

    Zyclin is a broad-spectrum antibiotic. It works by preventing the protein synthesis in bacteria which are essential for it. The absence of these vital proteins results in stunned bacterial cell growth due to which bacteria become vulnerable and dies. Zyclin is effective against a wide range of both gram negative and gram positive bacteria such as Staphylococcus aureus, Streptococcus pneumoniae, Streptococcus pyogenes, Prevotella melaninogenica, and lostridium perfringens.

    Does Zyclin cause abdominal pain?

    Yes, in a few cases oral Zyclin may cause abdominal pain. It is a known side effect of this drug. However, the exact cause of abdominal pain is unknown. If you are experiencing abdominal pain after taking this drug then you are advised to take a mild painkiller such as paracetamol.
