Interaction between Alcohol and Efatop

Efatop is a brand name of clindamycin and it comes in form of the capsule, injection, and topical gel. It is a prescription drug that belongs to the class of drug known as lincosamides. It is a broad spectrum antibiotic which is used in the prevention and treatment of bacterial infections such as pneumonia, strep throat, and pelvic inflammatory disease. The topical gel of Efatop is used in the treatment of acne vulgaris (pimples).
Oral Efatop can be taken with or without food because food does not have any effect on the absorption of this drug. The topical gel of Efatop should be applied as a thin layer once daily on the affected area or as advised by your doctor. Precautions must be taken in patients with colitis and improper kidney or liver function.
Discontinuing Efatop on your own can increase the chances of bacterial resistance and infection relapse. It is recommended that you always consult your doctor if you have decided to discontinue this medicine.
