2. Children (1-9 years)
Vitamin E is essential for the growth and health of children. FSSAI recommends 6 mg daily for children aged 1-3 years and 7 mg daily for children aged 4-9 years.

3. Adolescents (10-18 years)
Adolescence is a period of rapid growth of the body, so the requirement of vitamin E is higher for this age group. Adolescents aged 10-18 years should consume 11 mg of vitamin E daily.

4. Adults (19 years and above)
It is important for adults to maintain adequate levels of vitamin E to protect cells and maintain a strong immune system. According to FSSAI, adults aged 19 years and above should consume 10 mg of vitamin E daily.

5. Pregnant and breastfeeding women
Pregnant and breastfeeding women should consume enough vitamin E for their health and that of their baby, which is 10 mg daily for women and 11 mg daily for women who are breastfeeding.

Taking vitamin E in the daily recommended dosages is usually safe, but a higher dosage can have the following side effects:

Points to be noted while/before consuming vitamin E

  • In case you are a diabetic, you should avoid taking vitamin E since it can increase the risk of developing a stroke.
